Monday/ Tuesday/ Wednesday/ Friday
We are working on our next lab, solar cookers, which will help me assess the three science skills – What did you do? What happened? What did you learn? These skills affect 1/2 of the semester grade, so they are important.
First Monday – we learned the background information for this lab. If you missed Monday, take notes on the movie listed under Solar Cooker Inquiry Opportunity link on this web page.
After that, you are being given class time to show the skills.
1) WHAT DID YOU DO? Build a solar cooker and describe how you are going to test it
2) WHAT HAPPENED? Give the results when you test it – including data, observations, problems and solutions, and make a graph.
3) WHAT DID YOU LEARN? What was good about your solar cooker? Where did it need improvement? What changes will you make? EXPLAIN your thinking using the concepts we learned Monday in class. Then start the cycle again.
IF YOU MISSED CLASS: If you are going to miss a lot of time, you can do the lab as described under the SOLAR COOKER INQUIRY OPPORTUNITY link on this web page. If you miss just a little time, you can join your classmates in the lab when you return.
The last two Genius Hour days of the semester. You can work on these projects at home or in class. The date I need to give Genius Hour grades is Friday, December 15th.
