Objective:I will make progress on the research component for the Spring Research Project.
What we did in class today: We went to the lab and did exactly what is written above.
If you missed class today:For most people, the research part of the Spring Research project is due Thursday, March 22nd. You need to make time after school or doing AG to work with your partner on completing this major assignment when you have time.
Thursday, March 15th
Objective:I will demonstrate my knowledge of my science fair project with a presentation for a live audience – we are practicing during class today.
What we did in class today: We practiced speeches for tonight. Students who are not in science fair worked on their Spring project research or did homework.
If you were not in class today: You have nothing to make up if you come this evening. If you are not able to come this evening, you will be receiving a zero on a large grade. To make that up, you will need to go to http://www.sciencenewsforkids.org/ and choose articles to read about science. Read for one hour. When done, write the following information about each article that you read:
A) Name of article B) Summary of content – 1-3 sentences. C) Your reaction to the article – 1-2 sentences – did you like it? Why or why not?
If you demonstrate one hour plus or effort, I will give you credit for the evening science fair.
Wednesday, March 14th
Objective: With my team, in 3-4 sentences I will explain whether situations given follow the Energy Flows or Matter Cycles concepts which we have studied this year.
What we did in class today: We went over various scenarios and justified in complete sentences whether they were possilble or not based on the concept of energy flows and matter cycles.
If you missed class today: Download the Power Point presentation below. Look at some of the questions on the powerpoint and write down in 3- 4 sentences whether they are possible or not. Be sure to explain your answer well.
Tuesday, March 13
Objective: I will identify my independent science project for the second six weeks, any partners I will be working with, and write down the timelines and responsbilities for the home notification letter.
What we did in class today: We went to my web site and identified the projects we wanted to work on for the second six weeks. These are primarily homework projects. We filled out a notification letter as well for parents so they know about the assignment.
If you missed class today: Choose one of the projects under the “Second Six Weeks Project” tab on my home page. Let Mr. Jamsa know which one you want to do.
