Northwest Science Expo paperwork instructions
You will need your student ID assigned by the fair – check with Mr. Jamsa

1) Go to Science Fair Web Site
2) Sign in.
ALL OF THIS PAPERWORK NEEDS TO BE COMPLETED by February 10th to be eligible for the cheapest registration fee of $5.
ISEF Project – projects that involve humans or vertebrate animals and lots of paperwork
PAY ATTENTION TO THE DATES THAT I GIVE YOU – USE THEM OR PROBLEMS WILL FOLLOW.
Right click on the link below and open in a new tab. Then sign in. You can go back and forth between these instructions and your web page.
1) Scroll down to STUDENT INFORMATION. First, add a student if you project has a partner. Then click on the EDIT button. Update everything as well as you can.
NOTE: You can add your address but feel free to use the school phone number if you like – 503 873 5317.
A) Leave the Student E-mail BLANK – for some reason the web page is not accepting the student e-mails.
B) The date of STUDENT ACKNOWLEDGE needs to be January 10. The date of PARENT ACKNOWLEDGEMENT has to be January 11th. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
C) The Pink area for statistics is optional.
MAKE SURE THE DATES ARE CORRECT! Don’t forget to hit UPDATE.

GO TO EXHIBIT SUMMARY
2) Now, Scrolls down to Project Form 1A. Hit the edit button.
A) Give the project a title. Short and descriptive would be best. List your variables or your engineering goal. This does not need to be the title you use on your board.
B) Continuation Project – SHOULD SAY “NO”
C) Dates for this form – PROJECT STARTED ON January 14th. PROJECT ENDED ON February 21st. USE THESE DATES. See me if you have any questions.
D) Electricity – NO. (if you think you will want electricity, talk to Mr. Jamsa before marking yes)
E) Places of Experimentation. Check all that apply and complete the questions that accompany that choice. If you are collecting data at a place other than your house and/or school, check with Mr. Jamsa after you fill in the information.
BE SURE TO CLICK UPDATE when done or the changes will not be saved.

GO TO EXHIBIT SUMMARY
3) Scroll down to ABSTRACT – click on EDIT
A) Use the same title as you used before.
B) Fill out the abstract. Questions to answer in your abstract:
i) What do you hope to accomplish?ii) How will you do this? iii) What have you learned thus far iiii) What do you have left to do? The sentence starters can help.

We still need to ______________
The abstract is an outline of the project for the judges. You do not require many details. Appearance always matters, so make sure you have someone proof read it for spelling and clarity and grammar.
C) If you think you will be using lots of numbers and statistics – speak with Mr. Jamsa about nominating yourself for a special award.
D) Click – SAVE ABSTRACT.
GO TO EXHIBIT SUMMARY
Print up Form 1A, Form 1, and the Abstract form. Collect signatures. Mr Jamsa might have special forms for you as well, but this is all you can do right now.

Besides the paperwork above, you need to submit a research plan. This includes the following items that can all be copied and pasted together and printed if you like:
Question and Hypothesis OR Engineering Goal (no hypothesis necessary)
Some of your Research
Procedures for experiment – as much detail as you can at this time
